Calories in manty: think per piece — 90–130 kcal each

Manty portions vary by appetite, so per-plate numbers mislead; per-piece numbers travel. USDA has no manty entry, but its dumpling and beef components are lab-analyzed:

One steamed manty (~85 g: dough + beef/lamb + onion + fat)

ComponentAmountBasis (per 100 g)kcal
Dough shell (steamed)~35 gDumpling, no meat — FDC 2708344: 125 kcal, 3.5 P / 20.5 C≈44
Beef/lamb filling~40 gBeef, stew meat, cooked — FDC 2705849: 251 kcal, 28.4 P / 15.4 F≈100 (lean)
Onion + added fat (kurdyuk/butter)~10 gthe swing: lean fillings ≈ +10; fat-tail fillings ≈ +4010–40

≈95 kcal for a lean manty, ≈130 with a traditional fat-rich filling. A typical plate of 4 = 380–520 kcal; a generous 6 = 570–780. Add smetana (2 tbsp ≈ 40–60 kcal — FDC 2705615) on top.

The invisible variable is kurdyuk — the fat-tail pieces a proper Uzbek manty hides inside. Two visually identical dumplings can differ by 40 kcal each; across a plate of six, that's a 240-kcal spread no photo can fully see. Proba estimates conservatively and lets you correct the filling in one tap.

Protein check

Four lean manty deliver ~26 g protein — solid. Steamed beats fried (kovurma manty) by ~25–35 kcal per piece; the pan is the second-biggest swing after the filling.

Per-piece is exactly how the app thinks

Proba counts pieces, estimates per-piece grams (editable), and cites the component entries on the receipt. Same plate, same answer, every time — five-scan test welcome.
